False Lashes for Beginners: Step-by-Step Guide (2026)

False lashes as a beginner: don't panic!

Have you never worn false lashes but want to give it a try? Then you've come to the right place. Many beginners think it's difficult, but with the right products and a little practice you'll have it down in no time. In this guide we explain step by step how to start — from choosing the right false lashes to applying and removing them.

Step 1: Choose the right false lashes as a beginner

As a beginner, the choice of lash type is very important. Our recommendation:

  • Press-on cluster lashes — these are by far the easiest false lashes for beginners. They have built-in glue, so you don't have to handle separate lash glue. You simply press them beneath your own lashes and you're done.
  • Choose the Natural Wispy style — start with our most subtle style. This gives a beautiful, full look that isn't over the top and is the easiest to apply. Once you get the feel for it, you can move on to Balanced Volume or Full Glam.
  • Use the smaller sizes — each box contains clusters in 10mm, 12mm and 14mm. As a beginner, start with the 10mm and 12mm clusters — they're easier to position and feel lighter.

Step 2: What do you need?

To apply press-on cluster lashes you actually don't need anything extra — the glue is already on them. But want to make it a lot easier on yourself? Then our Press-On Lash Applicator is an absolute must.

👑 Press-On Lash Applicator — €12.99
A specially designed flat tweezer, made for cluster lashes. Unlike an ordinary tweezer, the applicator picks up the cluster flat and whole — so the clusters don't stick together or end up in a clump. Works perfectly for both pre-glued and regular clusters. Ideal for beginners and for anyone who finds clusters clumping together during application.

Also handy to have:

  • A good mirror (a magnifying mirror is recommended!)
  • A clean spoolie to comb through the lashes

Step 3: Preparation

Good preparation is half the work:

  1. Start with clean eyes — remove all eye make-up, eye cream and oil from your lashes and eyelids. Oil causes a weaker hold.
  2. Curl your own lashes (optional) — a lash curler gives a better base for the clusters.
  3. Apply mascara (optional) — a coat of mascara on your own lashes creates a seamless transition with the false lashes.

Step 4: Applying cluster lashes — step by step

  1. Pick up a cluster — preferably use the Press-On Lash Applicator. The flat design ensures you grip the cluster properly in one go without it deforming or sticking to other clusters.
  2. Start at the outer corner of your eye — this gives the most beautiful effect.
  3. Position — apply the cluster beneath your own lashes, at 1 to 2 mm from the lash line. This looks the most natural and is the most comfortable.
  4. Press — gently press each cluster and hold for 5 to 10 seconds.
  5. Work inward — add 4 to 5 clusters per eye, evenly distributed.
  6. Check in the mirror — see whether the clusters are straight and evenly distributed.
  7. Comb through with a spoolie — this gives a natural, cohesive result.

Step 5: Finishing your look

Now the lashes are on, you can finish your look:

  • Add eyeliner along your lash line to hide any small gaps.
  • Apply some mascara to the clusters for an even more seamless transition.
  • Optionally add highlighter to the inner corner of your eye for an awake effect.

Step 6: Removing false lashes

Removing them correctly is just as important as applying them correctly:

  1. Apply an oil-based remover with a cotton bud along your lash line.
  2. Wait 20-30 seconds until the glue starts to loosen.
  3. Use a clean spoolie to gently loosen the clusters from your lashes.
  4. Never force — if a cluster won't come loose, apply more remover and wait a little longer.

Tips for beginners

  • Use the Press-On Lash Applicator — the biggest game-changer for beginners. No mess, no clumped clusters. See it here.
  • Practice at home before you go out. Your first time takes a bit more time — plan it for when you're not in a hurry.
  • Start with Natural Wispy — the most natural and lightest style, ideal to start with.
  • Use the smaller clusters first — the 10mm and 12mm from your box are the easiest for beginners.
  • Patience — after 2-3 times applying, it goes much faster.
