Lash Glue: How to Use Lash Glue Correctly (Complete Guide)

Why the right lash glue matters so much

The most beautiful false lashes stand or fall with the lash glue you use. Good lash glue gives a strong, lasting hold — poor glue can lead to lashes coming loose, skin irritation or even damage to your own lashes.

At LuxuryQueenLashes we also have our own clear lash glue, made for use around the eyes. Please note: it contains latex and fragrance, so check the ingredients if you have allergies.

Types of lash glue

1. Clear lash glue

Dries clear, ideal for a natural look. Perfect if you don't wear eyeliner or want a subtle style. Recommended for beginners.

2. Black lash glue

Dries black and doubles as an eyeliner effect. Perfect for a dramatic look or if you always wear black eyeliner. Covers small mistakes when applying.

3. Built-in adhesive (press on lash clusters)

Our press on lash clusters come with built-in adhesive. No separate glue needed — just press and done. The most user-friendly option.

How to apply lash glue correctly

  1. Prepare your lashes — make sure your own lashes and eyelids are clean and oil-free. Oil or eye make-up residue weakens the hold.
  2. Apply a thin layer of glue — apply a very thin, even layer of lash glue to the band of the false lashes. Less is more: too much glue causes clumps and a messy result.
  3. Wait 30 seconds — the crucial step many people skip! Let the glue dry slightly (turn tacky) before applying the lashes. Otherwise they slide.
  4. Apply — place strip lashes as close to your lash line as possible, start in the middle and work towards the corners.
  5. Press gently — use a cotton bud or lash applicator to press the edge into place.
  6. Let it dry for 1–2 minutes — move your eyes as little as possible during this time for the best hold.

The biggest lash glue mistakes

  • Using too much glue — gives a messy white edge and a weaker hold.
  • Not waiting — glue that isn't tacky doesn't hold well.
  • Buying cheap glue — cheap lash glue can cause eye irritation, allergic reactions and lash damage.
  • Using expired glue — always check the shelf life. Old glue holds worse.

How to remove lash glue

Removing properly is just as important as applying properly:

  1. Apply a little oil-based remover to your lash line with a cotton bud.
  2. Let it work for 20–30 seconds.
  3. Use a clean spoolie to gently loosen the glue from below.
  4. Never pull lashes off roughly — it damages your own lashes.
  5. Then cleanse your eyelids with micellar water.
