What are false lashes?
False lashes, also called false eyelashes or fake lashes, are artificial lashes you temporarily apply underneath your own lashes or on your eyelids to enhance your look. They come in countless styles, from subtle and natural to full and dramatic.
False lashes have been popular in the beauty world for decades, but thanks to new technologies like press on lashes and magnetic lashes, they're more accessible than ever. Today anyone — even without experience — can have perfect lashes in minutes.
Types of false lashes
There are roughly three types of false eyelashes:
1. Classic strip lashes
The traditional false lashes you apply as one strip along your lash line with lash glue. Available in countless styles. Reusable.
2. Lash clusters (press on lashes)
Lash clusters are small bundles of false lashes that you apply separately underneath your own lashes, 1–2 mm from the lash line, for a more personalised look. The newest generation — pre-glued lash clusters — has built-in adhesive, so they're super quick to apply.
At LuxuryQueenLashes our press on lash clusters come in three styles with a C curl: Natural Wispy, Balanced Volume and Full Glam. Each box contains 36 clusters in 10 mm, 12 mm and 14 mm.
3. Magnetic lashes
Magnetic false lashes attach with tiny magnets, completely without glue. Ideal for people with sensitive skin or an allergy to lash glue.
How do you apply false lashes?
Application differs per type, but the basics are always the same:
- Preparation: Start with clean, dry, oil-free lashes. Remove all make-up and oil, and apply your lashes before your moisturiser or eye cream.
- Measure: Hold strip lashes along your eye to check the fit.
- Apply: Press on lash clusters go underneath your own lashes, 1–2 mm from the edge — the adhesive is already on. For classic strip lashes you first apply glue to the strip. Magnetic lashes need no glue.
- Finish: Use eyeliner to hide any small gaps if needed.
How long do false lashes last?
Wear time depends on the type:
- Classic strip lashes: 1 day per wear, reusable with good care.
- Press on lash clusters: on average up to 4 days, many customers 7+ days — depending on your skin and routine.
- Magnetic lashes: 1 day per wear, reusable dozens of times.
Are false lashes harmful?
Quality false lashes are not harmful to your own lashes, as long as you apply and remove them correctly. Keep this in mind:
- Always use a gentle, oil-based remover to remove lashes.
- Never force — don't pull lashes off roughly.
- Give your lashes a rest now and then, especially if you wear them daily.
- Always buy quality products from reliable brands.
Which false lashes are best?
The 'best' false lashes don't exist — it depends entirely on your look, routine and preference:
- Want ease and a multi-day hold? Choose press on lash clusters.
- Want no glue? Go for magnetic lashes.
- Want a classic look for a night out? Strip lashes are ideal.
